Tip #2 Identify Your Tribe!

What is the definition of “Tribe”?

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it means: a group of persons having a common character, occupation, or interest. Also, a social group comprising numerous families, clans, or generations together with dependents, or adopted strangers. Who is part of YOUR Tribe? Are you surrounded by others who uplift and support you? And if not, why? Is there something you can do to attract like-minded people who love and encourage you? Absolutely!

By developing an awareness of what you are looking for, you will be able to search for relationships that will bring you satisfaction. Also, take a look at yourself. Are you treating others the way you want to be treated? The first step in knowing what kind of relationships you want to build is to learn about yourself. Are you being the kind of friend that makes others feel supported and encouraged? Are you what you are looking for? Remember like attracts like. Be the change!

Once you know the type of people you want in your life, make the effort to reach out and have them be a part of your world. Compliment them, ask them to lunch, join a hiking group with them, invite them to exercise with you…whatever your interests are, include these people and see what kind of response you get. You will know if the right individuals are in your lives simply by how they act after your invitation. If they say, “Yes, I’ll go!” and then find excuses to not be there in the future, then they were not meant to be in your life. However, if they do continue to show up and make the time to be with you, support you, talk with you; then they are supposed to be part of your Tribe.

Finally, take time to express gratitude for your Tribe. Think about all the people who support you on a day to day basis. Our success is never just our own! Who are those people, including yourself, that contribute to your accomplishments and happiness? Is it your friend to whom you can tell all your secrets to? Is it your mother who can always be counted on to help? It it your boss or coworker? Whoever they are, acknowledge them and hold them in your heart. Consider ways to lift them up and show your appreciation for their efforts and love toward you. What you focus on grows. Focus on your expression of gratitude to your Tribe. Watch it grow!

Love and Light!
