My Incredible Love for Lightness of Being

I was in a meeting this week where we were discussing our love of flow in our lives and how much easier life feels when you are operating in flow. That discussion brought to mind my love for “Lightness of Being.” I love, love, love lightness of being. I go there as often as I can. It is the place where absolutely nothing can touch your feelings of peace and wellbeing.

Lightness of Being to me is the absence of heaviness. Reacting to events and experiences in a way that does not give undue stress to events that are happening. You can be who you truly are. Without any should’ s attached to outcomes of what is going on for you in the present moment. When I am moving through the world with lightness of being I can see how everything, and I mean everything, good or bad is set up for my best and highest good. I don’t have to even see it. It is just a knowing. When you get cut off in traffic by someone, you don’t fill up with anger (heavy) or resentment (heavy). You think that this could be the very thing the universe has put in front of you to allow you to avoid an accident or to meet that person that has just the right answer for something you need. The lack of heaviness leaves space for gratitude (lightness). It also allows you space to see beauty in the present moments. I notice that when I am navigating the world with lightness of being, the world is more willing to make me happy. We attract what we put out, right? So why not put out what you want to attract. For example, if you want someone to give you a break, try giving someone else a break. If you would like understanding in a situation, try giving someone else understanding.

So how do we reach lightness of being? We must recognize that each of us carry a light within us. It is always there and available to us. When we focus on or experience fears, negative thoughts, and concerns from the past we cover up that light and our existence becomes heavy. It is like we are carrying around the weight of the world on our shoulders. So, we need to lighten up. We need to let go of everything that does not bring us joy. Just let it go. While you are letting go, identify and run to those things that do bring you joy.

Also, spend time cultivating your awareness of what makes you happy. What activities truly align with your true essence. Once I identified who I am at my essence it was easier to identify what actions and activities did not align with my true essence. It then allows us to choose those activities and connections that will align with our true essence. It can be frightening to look inside ourselves to identify that true essence, but it is so worth it!

I am reminded of the quote by Marianne Williamson. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.” This is so true. Once we connect to our light there is nothing that can keep us down. Nothing!

Be the light!
